How to Apply a Hotfix to the Dr. Oligo Control Software

Introduction:

This procedure is used to install a Hotfix for the Dr. Oligo Control Software

Prerequisites:

1. Hotfix link from support

Procedure:

1. Shutdown the software
2. Backup the Program Files and Program Data Directory
   • Create a folder on the desktop named "Dr. Oligo Backup MMDDYYY" and replace the MMDDYYY with the current date without any slashes. If there are multiple backups created in a day then also add the time to the folder name
   • Open the Windows Explorer and navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\"
   • Make a backup copy of the "Dr. Oligo" folder by copying it to the folder created on the desktop named "Dr. Oligo Backup DATE"
   • Open the Windows Explorer and navigate to "C:\ProgramData\Biolytic Lab Performance\"
   • Make a backup copy of the "DrOligo " folder by copying it to the folder created on the desktop named "Dr. Oligo Backup DATE"
3. Download the hotfix to the downloads folder using the link provided by support
4. Extract the contents of the file.
5. Copy the contents of the extracted file, as seen below, to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dr. Oligo" folder and overwrite any existing files such as the file "Dr. Oligo.exe".
   
6. Navigate to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dr. Oligo" folder
7. RIght click on the "Dr. Oligo.exe" file and click Properties
   
8. You should see the following screen. Check "Unblock" on the bottom right and click "OK". If the properties screen below does not have an "Unblock" field then click "OK" to close the properties dialog and continue with the next steps.
   
9. Launch the Dr. Oligo software
10. The login screen should be displayed with the hotfix version number that was applied. If you do not know the hotfix version number, contact support and send them the screenshot

Troubleshooting:

1. The hotfix link is expired
   • Contact support for an updated link
2. The software license is invalid
   • Contact support and include the following information
     • The software version you are updating from
     • The hotfix version you are updating to
     • A screenshot of the login screen
     • The Instrument Serial Number
     • A copy of the following folders:
       • "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dr. Oligo"
       • "C:\ProgramData\Biolytic Lab Performance\DrOligo"
